Having suitable tools for every work makes the work easy to carry out. Starting from field preparation till harvest some basic tools are required depending on the type of crop and soil condition. Having suitable tool saves time, labor and cause less damage to the crops. Also, using the suitable tool will give clean-finished work.


Following some basic tools every gardener should own:

 

1. Khurpi

 

A khurpi is a cutting tool with a flat blade and a short handle used for digging soil and intercultural operations in small gardens or vegetable farms. It is used for various farm processes like tilling, bed preparation, weeding, digging, and harvesting shallow roots crops at a small scale.


 

2. Trowel

 

Trowels are short-handled hand-held trowels use for digging, applying fertilizers and manuring, and also for mixing soil. Trowel has a cast iron blade with a flat or curved surface and a short handle that can be of wood or plastic. They are used in squatting positions.



 

3. Spade

 

Spade is an important tool primarily used for digging, loosening soil, and breaking big clod It is comprised of a blade typically stunted and less curved than that of a shovel and a long wooden handle.

 

4.Sprayer

 

Different types of sprayers are required depending on the type of crops grown in the garden. If you are growing flowers and vegetables in pots you will need a hand sprayer and if you are growing fruit crops you will need a foot sprayer. But if you want to spray weedicides then you may need a knapsack sprayer.


 


5.Garden fork

 

garden fork is a gardening tool, with a handle made of wood or plastic and several short but sturdy tines. It is used for loosening, lifting, mixing, and turning over soil in gardening and farming.

 


6.Garden rake

 

Graden rake is a multipurpose tool with a short or long handle and several tines bend at 90° angle. Garden rake can be used for pushing things around and collecting them, scrapping, grooming, and leveling the beds.

 


7.Weeder

Several garden weeders are designed to ease the task of removing weeds. Depending on the crop that has grown and weeds growing along with will decide the types of weeding tools to be used.

 

8.Scissors and secateurs

 

Trimming or cutting of tender shoots or leaves can be done using a simple pair of scissors but the shoots are woody then a pair of secateurs will serve the purpose.



 



9.Loopers

 

If you have trees or shrubs that ever need pruning then the loppers are perfect for keeping your hedges in proper shape and size or removing unwanted diseased branches.



 

10.Graden Gloves

 

Garden gloves protect the gardener from chemicals and any physical injury during gardening work. If you grow plants like roses or vegetables and fruits with thorny stems then garden gloves become very important for the gardener to work with these plants.

 


11.Watering can

A watering can is a must to have tool for any gardener growing any kind of crop.Watering can in capacity range of 2 to 10 litres.
